In New Zealand a mom made some online bids for toys before napping. Then her 3-year-old daughter took over and bought a bigger plaything than expected — a huge earth-moving digger for a cool $12,300. The girl, Pipi Quinland, made the winning 20,000 New Zealand dollar ($12,300) bid on the Kobelco digger with a few mouse clicks at the auction site TradeMe while her parents slept. When she woke up the mom looked at her email and saw that she won an auction for a digger. She thought it was just a toy she bought. She reread the email later and then saw the price. Lucky for her she was able to fix up the mess Pipi started. She called TradeME immediately after she realized that her child had bought a real earthmover. TradeMe reimbursed the sellers cost for the auction and relisted the digger.

3 more schools in New York are closed down due to swine flu outbreak. Those three schools with more than 4,000 students altogether — would be closed for at least a week because there are an unusually high level of flulike illnesses at those schools. I think that is lucky for those kids, because of the fact that school year coming to a close and they get at least a week of leisure time. The downside of it is that if they got infected then their summer vacation plans would be ruined. The assistant principle seems to have contracted the flu because he showed flu-like symptoms and started hallucinating so the family called 911, and he was hospitalized.

The kids find the wierdest things. A 10 year old boy in New Hamshire found $8160 stuffed in a charred bag on the side of the street. Him and his grandmother were doing his town’s annual roadside cleanup. The first thought that came to his mind was that there had been a murder involved over the money. They took it to the town clerk after finding passports and other papers in it. It had been a victim of a fire across the street. The backpack’s owner had moved and said anything found of her possessions goes to her sisters.
